(The Jam House just called me back to tell me. I was so very confused for a second. Heeee.)
ETA: The site suggests it's over 18s; I didn't think to ask the woman when she called me (I was still half asleep). You should probably call and check before buying tickets, if you're under eighteen. :\
|Tuesday, January 15th, 2008|
So I just called the Jam House about the gig on February 24th, and apparently nothing is actually confirmed on their end. I don't know what that's about.
The woman knew what I was talking about, though -- I'm guessing other people have asked about it already -- and she took my name and number, so hopefully someone will call me back when actual information is available.
Failing that, I plan to turn up on the door anyway and be like "heyyy so where's my good friend Brian~"
Just thought I'd let y'all know.

I'm gutted about the Glasgow one -- I've already got a ticket for Tegan and Sara that night. But I plan to hit up Edinburgh and Aberdeen, and I'll definitely
be at the Dundee show -- Fat Sam's is basically my local club, two minutes walk from my flat in Dundee.

|Wednesday, September 12th, 2007|
Go buy Stitches dickwads!!!!!!!
Also, Nothing Means Everything is on the NME website/has leaked so...
The fact it's on there kind of annoys me considering what was in there today.
'K I'll do this quickly, calmly and with minimal fuss.Jamie Fullerton on Nothing Means Everything:
"When, after you stick an album on the NME stereo, two staffers ask why in the name of Brandon Flowers' 'tache you've just put Boy Kill Boy on, you know you haven't found the new Killers. And so it was with The Dykeenies' debut, which was ejected faster than that Gary Glitter compilation the workie put on last week (after 'Rock & Roll Part 2' ended, naturally). In fairness, the opening tracks are passable synth-indie fare, hinting at why we got them on an NME tour a while back, but if they're the Wile E Coyote moments, briefly floating over the cliff edge, from there it's the plummet to the canyon floor. The fatal crash is 'Pick You Up', on which Killers-lite schmindie mashes with a super-club beat more akin to the Crazy Frog than anything that could headline a festival. Still, we'd rather listen to to 'Axel F' than Flea RHCP's Reading trumpet solo..."
1. Stop it with the Killers comparisons. No wonder they gave it a shite review if they're looking for the new Killers, considering they're fuck all like them to be perfectly honest. And Boy Kill Boy? Don't be stupid. Oh, and aren't they yet another band the NME bummed the fuck out of before quickly turning on them? Fucks sake btw.
2. Stop being so fucking fickle.
3. Unlike the very vast majority of all this indie pish they're bumming at present, every single song of theirs is strong, and they genuinely DON'T ALL SOUND THE SAME. I like how they bang on about The Twang being so good and then slagging this off, just... get taste.
4. Most of the shit written there.. was completely actually irrelevant to the album. This is another of many things I hate about the 'New Musical Express', their reviews generally make fuck all sense/are irrelevant. And how can you actually judge an album on whether a song would be good headlining a festival? There is so much amazing music out there that you'd never see at the top of the bill on the Carling Weekend or whatever else. Besides, if they've ever actually been to a Dykeenies gig they'd realise that Pick You Up is fucking ANTHEMIC, particularly live.
5. They slagged off Stitches last week as well saying they're too mature before their time?! And how it's not a patch on the demo that got them on that tour with the Maccabees and whatnot? Basically what they're saying is they like music that doesn't have all that much depth over something with a bit of substance, if you recall one of those articles I posted recently... oh ffs man I don't know, all I know is that the NME are incompetent wankers that don't know what they're on about. I wish I'd just bumped the vinyl now and not bothered buying this shit today
OH AND ON A LIGHTER NOTE!!!BECOME A BRIANIST!!!
